Three Suns, Two Moons
It begins in a world Ruled by no one, we were made up of villages, travelers, nomads, there were no more cities, states, separation; there were still people who wished to have some sort of power, but they were mostly made up of gangs, and ever smaller groups of “bullies” as they called them.
I first appeared in a rundown alley, in a village, its occupants most resembled the people of south Asia, but with a lot of very pale, Europeans and indigenous Americans with very strong features and all dressed in traditional garments, roaming the makeshift streets and pathways of this lively market that was set on a more solid form of wet sand, to the naked eye it appeared as a kind of beach like water was lurking below the surface of the sand, yet it was still strong enough to walk upon and many people at that.
Around me they roamed from one seller of goods to another, looking to purchase either food items or some sorts of clothing items, perhaps other things but my eyes could only focus on so much at a time.
Beside me stood a man, he would be with me throughout my journey, which my mind somehow refers to as dream walking although I am unsure of what that truly is.
He stood much taller then I perhaps well over six foot five inches ,in other words he was other worldly tall with silvery gray hair that didn’t seems to stay exactly one shade of blonde, his skin a light tan similar to mine, and his hair a short wavy yet messy cut alittle below his ears, though I could make out some of his features, truly he was perfectly indescribable, his hair kind of floated around his head as if it was missing some gravity, his eyes a clear blue and though I could tell you all of this his features kept moving, somehow, it looked as if he couldn’t decide where to place them so they kept rearranging and even so I could feel him looking at me or know he was talking to me by the way his head turned.
He stood next to me in odd looking clothing that resembled something like a long cream colored dress shirt but I was long enough to surpass his hips and almost met his knees, he had on long straight pants that were a slightly different shade of white that I could see from my peripheral vision, both pieces looked to be linen, he also wore some kind of tattered olive green colored fabric draped across his chest and back it looked to be shiny like silk , it looked like it had been ripped into shreds but was still intact somehow; he stood facing forward just gazing into the crowds of people, I could tell by his demeanor he was a bit stoic.
Where we stood There was only wet sand everywhere, it covered nearly every piece of land, till the edge of the forest ahead, a few feet ahead of us was a bridge Small maybe it could fit two people to cross it at once, it was almost like a lawn ornament it was so small, like it had no purpose at all , because there was nothing to cross really, but we had to cross it, I just knew that somehow.
I instinctually followed him as we made our way through the people; around me were men staring, looking as if they knew that I was new to this place, I remember feeling as though I shouldn’t look at anyone directly and just follow my guide, to keep from being discovered, they shouldn’t know I wasn’t meant to be there.
I felt myself step closer to my guide, careful to not make it obvious and to not look anyone in the eyes as I did so, I was filled with a sense of knowing to stay calm and carry on without worry, this was my journey, as long as I stayed with my guide I was safe.
Everywhere there were dogs running loose around us, fighting, playing and just running about, as we crossed the small bridge we somehow grew closer to the forests edge in moments.
This man, who I will presume was some kind of guide for me, turned to me and I to him, I could more clearly see his face now, ever changing , morphing from old to young but this wasn’t disturbing to me, just unusual and interesting, he seemed to have a slight smile and I got the sense that he was looking for a partner, a soul mate of some sorts, like a companion… but as that scene was received, all feelings and energies we were sharing like a language were cut off again and he began walking.
We continued our walk to the trees, and I couldn’t help but now notice that they were unusually green and dark, but in a beautiful lively way, like the most healthy evergreen trees you could imagine, it was truly a beautiful sight, I was in awe, so much so that I had almost not noticed the random piles of “junk” that lay in perfectly formed square piles randomly around us .
I say junk but they were varying in size ,piles of books, art supplies ,furniture, tools, just random things you would find within any store, but in oddly neat piles, perfectly formed in a square shape, deliberately placed items like puzzle pieces; we passed these and entered the tree line.
As we entered we simultaneously exited threw what looked like a thick layer of trees into a field of grass, freshly cut and in a perfect rectangle like a football field ,It was surround by a thick layer of trees and looked untouched but by people, Like no one had ever been there… except for us.
We kept walking then stopped in the middle of the field and I had a feeling to look up at the sky, It was suddenly dark like night with only moonlight ,suddenly two moons appeared side by side glowing a brilliant bright white but somehow almost yellow, a sudden storm like a powerful hurricane began yet it only swaying the trees slightly ,the man and I stood side by side still, unaffected in any way by the weather.
Staring at the glowing moons, I felt prompted to speak, the first time I had spoken in the dream.
I can only remember pieces of a spell but it had something to do with the moon strength, power, those are the words that come back to me, but the rest are hazy..
‘By the power of the sun and the light of the moon” our voices harmoniously echoed
As I recited these words the man, my guide speaking with me, our words spoken perfectly together, we looked at each other for a moment and I could still see his face shifting, I saw him genuinely smile at me for a moment then smirk a little almost unnoticeable had I not caught it between the movements of his features.
In some way I felt he was there to teach and guide but not completely attached to my dream, in a strong voice that seemed almost too perfect to be human, a very unreal and slightly autotuned ,Im not exactly sure but I know what we were saying was powerful and at some point we held hands as if to steady and ground.
As I finished the spell, with only my words coming out last almost lingering in the air, the stormy weather suddenly stopped and like a time lapse the darkness of the sky and the two moons moved out of the sky like turning the hand on a clock and night suddenly turned to day with three bright suns but I could look at them directly.
Snapping me out of my trance, the man stepped Infront of me striding away, two medium sized dogs appearing to walk behind him happily trotting along, one was a cocker spaniel and the other like a small terrier, I quickly followed him into the trees again.
From then on, the tone of the dream changed, his demeanor changed, more like a performance, character, more relaxed but still rigid, and mostly silent, not as separated as he had been before.
In the blink of an eye were suddenly running and all I could see were rusted cars around and wet sand beneath us as we ran, we saw a large pile of “junk” incredibly tall, we climbed it till we could get away from the very large pack of dogs that was chasing us, as we climbed a Pitbull like dog latched on to my ankle but I was able to get free of it, the man was also fighting the dogs but managed to get to the top of a pile for safety.
He looked at me panting and smiling, he made a joke about the situation and I managed a smile but was still a little shaken by the dogs roaming below us, there was a small medicine bottle made of plastic filled with a white liquid, with a syringe next to it, I picked it up and filled it with the liquid ,I looked up at him and he looked at me sternly and asked “are you sure” I nodded knowing that there was no other way to get out of this situation, at the same moment I had a sense that this liquid could seriously hurt the dogs.
I knelt down to the Pitbull that was snapping and jumping at the side of the mound I sat atop and as he opened his mouth I injected the liquid and pulled back ,suddenly he stopped tasting the strange liquid and then whimpered pawing at his mouth to get the liquid out then ran off with the other dogs following him, also whimpering.
We got down from the mounds of junk and there again appeared his two dogs which I pet and played with for a moment before the dream shifted suddenly.
From my point of view I saw a man’s hands holding a women’s face, she had layers of black curls, her features very unreal just like my guide her face seemed to shift but less rapidly, she was very fair skinned, bright blue almond shaped eyes with beautiful thick eyelashes, and a straight yet strong , small nose, across her nose and face was a line, a tattooed black line with a blueish tint to it and a small thinner line along it as if someone had perfected a previously incorrect line that had been drawn,
Her lips were full and formed a small grin as this man’s hands held her face and shook her playfully yet gently.
It was only a glimpse like a vision then she was gone and I was again standing next to my guide, we were with a group of indigenous children ranging in ages from four to seventeen years old , the eldest was a girl who staired me in the eyes as if to tell me something then walked away, at this point we had found an old factory.
It was like a watermill, with a giant wooden wheel and the whole structure looked like it belonged in the 1700s, completely made of wood with some metal accents, we had made our way inside trying to find a place to sleep for the night, I was trying to help a young boy set up a sleeping bag near a water wheel and got the idea to climb it to the view from the top of it , as I reached the top, out of nowhere a brindle wolf appeared, it locked eyes with me and then trotted off disappearing into the air.
In that moment the factory roared to life and water began flowing down the wheel and clothes became drenched where I sat, we fled the factory in fear that someone would find us.
The indigenous children all left on their own as a group and there alone stood the man and myself, we look at each other and exchanged a smile, his face had morphed into an older version of himself, he then walked away leaving me by myself.
I, shocked that he had left me, suddenly appeared back in the grassy field but it was now dark again the wind was once again rushing around me but this time I was scared, unlike last time I had been there the wind threw my hair against my face, the rain covered me and I was scared knowing this was not right.
Above me there was a calm moon lit sky, I was ingulfed in the stormy weather, the sounds of the creatures of the forest all around me, at this point my dream is appearing in flashes like short clips and I am being chased across the field by a truck full of men and their pack of dogs following , the man dressed as a lumberjack hollering and yelling from behind me, trying to catch up at top speed, I could hear the engine reeving as I panted running as fast as my legs would take me.
In a flash I am once again at the edge of the forest where I had once entered it ,looking down at the wet sand, I began to walk across the bridge still feeling fear but knowing it was over, I looked up seeing the man, my guide standing there waiting for me atop the bridge which was larger now, enough for at least a crowd to pass by one another all at once.
I walked over to him and stood at his side, we both gaze at the tree line as we did before, I feel excitement, caution and fear, then without words a sense from my guide tells me that we will be back again.
(from the present)
And yet we never were….
